Our new Aura data bus is a revolutionary connectivity solution that surpasses the current standards of Thunderbolt 5 and USB4. It uses magnetic connectors and cables similar to the I-Mag data bus, our previous generation of magnetic technology. Aura offers unprecedented speed, reliability, and versatility for data transfer and display output.
Aura can deliver up to 160 Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth across four lanes, or up to 240 Gbps of unidirectional bandwidth on one lane. This is twice as fast as Thunderbolt 5, which offers up to 80 Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth or up to 120 Gbps of unidirectional bandwidth. Aura also supports DisplayPort 2.1, which enables resolutions up to 16K at 60 Hz or 10K at 120 Hz. Aura can also carry up to 300W of power, which is way more than enough to charge most laptops and other devices. And with support for daisy chaining up to 20 devices thanks to , you can connect all your peripherals with a single cable.
Unlike Thunderbolt 5 and USB4, which use USB Type-C connectors, Aura uses magnetic connectors that snap on and off easily without damaging the port or the cable. This also prevents accidental disconnection and provides a secure connection.
Unfortunately, Aura is not natively backwards compatible with I-Mag, but we have designed a new extensive line of adapters to accommodate this switch. You can use these adapters to connect your existing I-Mag devices to Aura ports, or vice versa. Aura is also compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 devices via adapters to USB-C connectors.
Aura can also support longer cable lengths than Thunderbolt 5 and USB4, which are limited by signal attenuation and interference. Aura uses novel PAM-3 modulation technology, which allows for more bits to be transmitted along the cable. This reduces the need for repeaters or active cables, which can increase the cost and complexity of the system.
